We are pioneers of low-temperature, low-pressure overmoulding technology.
Water ingress and mechanical wear and tear degrade electrical systems. Overmoulding a part or component by encapsulating it in a material to create a single, contained product can protect systems and maximise product longevity. At Brucom, we’ve invested heavily in overmould technology, developing our expertise and overmoulding capabilities to provide for the needs of our partners.
Why invest in custom overmoulding with Brucom?
Overmoulding components and assemblies is vital to ensuring your products are long-lasting and able to withstand harsh conditions and chemicals. We use a high-performance thermoplastic polyamide designed specifically for low-pressure moulding processes. After 20 years of overmoulding for the automotive and industrial industries, we have never seen a failure in the overmould itself.
Why invest in low-pressure, low-temperature overmoulding with Brucom?
" There was even a project where we overmoulded parts for a cement mixing truck, and we saw the vehicle itself corrode and fall apart before any of our wiring showed faults or even significant ingress. "
KYLE POTTS, Head of Engineering at Brucom.
Our custom overmoulding expertise
With our in-house tooling and design capabilities, we can offer overmoulding across a wide range of assemblies and products. Using the injection moulding process, we can overmould a range of components, including:
Grommets
Switch Panels
Gaskets

Our injection moulding process
We use in-house tooling and injection moulding machines to design, manufacture and overmould any connector, PCB or component to your requirements. We offer fast turnaround and low cost, without compromising on quality.
Our extensive experience with both overmoulding and engineering means we can design and manufacture bespoke tooling for low-pressure, low-temperature overmoulding applications.
Using our in-house engineering capability, CAD design systems and dedicated machining, we develop precision mould tools for encapsulation. We can create a one-off prototype tool for concept validation and a production-grade aluminium mould set for ongoing manufacture.
All tooling is designed specifically around your component, cable exit geometry, sealing requirement, and final application environment. We will review your needs and recommend optimum split lines, venting and cable retention. We can take a project from initial idea through to finished moulded samples in a matter of days.
We use a range of overmoulding machines for our injection moulding processes, including the Mold-Man 6200 and the OptiMel Hotmelt BASEline.
Innovating overmould testing using AI
We’ve recently invested in an AI Camera from Keyence, which, fitted to the overmoulding machinery, checks components for faults before overmoulding. Find out more about our thorough testing and inspection processes here.
The Technomelt material used in our process is a high-performance thermoplastic polyamide designed specifically for low-pressure moulding processes. This protects the substrate and components from damage. The general specification is shown below:
Automotive standards operating temperature -40 to +105 °C
Resistant to diesels and oils.
UL 94 V0 flammability rating
77 shore hardness
400% elongation to break
15 Kv/mm Dielectric strength
Electrical Resistance to IPC-TM-650 accredited
