GENERAL STATEMENT OF POLICY
Brucom Distribution Ltd acknowledges and accepts its legal responsibilities for securing the health, safety and welfare of all its employees, of sub-contractors working on its behalf and all others affected by their activities under the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974.
The Company will provide and maintain safe and healthy working conditions so far as reasonably practicable. Brucom Distribution Ltd will ensure, so far as is reasonably practicable:
The provision and maintenance of plant and systems of work that are, so far as is reasonably practicable, safe and without risks to health
Arrangements for ensuring, so far as is reasonably practicable, safety and absence of risks to health in connection with the use, handling, storage and transport of articles and substances
The provision of such information, instruction, training and supervision as is necessary to ensure, so far as is reasonably practicable, the health and safety at work of employees
So far as is reasonably practicable as regards any place of work under the employer's control, the maintenance of it in a condition that is safe and without risks to health and the provision and maintenance of means of access to and egress from it that are safe and without such risks
The provision and maintenance of a working environment for the employees that is, so far as is reasonably practicable, safe, without risks to health, and adequate as regards facilities and arrangements for their welfare at work.
We will provide adequate control of the Health and Safety risks arising from our work activities.
The company ensures that all its employees are competent to carry out their tasks and given adequate information, instruction, training and supervision.
The Company will encourage all employees to be actively involved in maintaining safe operating conditions and practices. This policy will be regularly reviewed to ensure that these standards of health and safety are maintained.
1.0 PURPOSE
Brucom Distribution Ltd is committed to ensuring the health and safety and well-being of all employees, visitors and other stakeholders. This occupational Health and Safety (OH&S) policy outlines our commitment to maintaining a safe and health work environment and complying with applicable laws and regulations
2.0 SCOPE
This policy applies to all employees, contractor’s visitors and anyone else who may be affected by the activities of Brucom Distribution Ltd it covers all workplaces including offices and other locations where work is conducted on behalf of the company.
3.0 RESPONSIBILITIES
Management: The management of Brucom Distribution Ltd is responsible for providing leadership in health and safety matters. This includes
Allocating resources to implement and maintain effective health and safety programs
Ensuring adequate training and resources to employees to perform their tasks safely.
Investigating incidents and taking corrective actions to prevent their recurrence
Employees: All employees are responsible for their own safety and the safety of their colleagues. This includes
- Following safe work practices and procedures
- Reporting hazards and unsafe conditions promptly
- Participating in health and safety training programs
- Using personal protective equipment as required
4.0 HAZARD IDENTIFICATION AND RISK ASSESSMENT
Brucom Distribution Ltd will conduct regular hazard identification and risk assessment processes to identify and eliminate or control workplace hazards. This includes
- Regular workplace inspections
- Investigation of incidents and near misses in our accident Book
- Consultation with employees regarding potential hazards
5.0 TRAINING AND COMMUNICATION
Brucom Distribution Ltd will provide relevant health and safety training to all employees. This includes:
- Induction training for new employees
- Ongoing training for employees in their specific roles
- Communication of health and safety information through various channels
6.0 EMERGENCY PREPAREDNESS
Brucom Distribution Ltd will establish and maintain procedures for responding to emergencies, including:
- Evacuation plans
- First Aid procedures
- Emergency contact information.
7.0 CONTINUOUS IMPROVEMENT
Brucom Distribution Ltd is committed to continuous improvement in health and safety performance. This includes:
- Regularly reviewing and updating health and safety policies and procedures
- Learning from incidents and near misses to prevent future occurrences
8.0 COMPLIANCE
Brucom Distribution Ltd will comply with all applicable health and safety laws and regulations. This includes:
- Regularly monitoring and reviewing compliance
- Taking corrective actions as necessary
This OH&S policy is communicated to all employees and its effectiveness will be reviewed regularly to ensure its ongoing suitability and relevance to Brucom Distribution Ltd operations.
Operational controls are implemented through documented procedures including:
- COSHH (OHS-008),
- RIDDOR (OHS-011),
- Equipment maintenance (QUA-070),
- Fire safety arrangements (ENV-026).
This policy will be reviewed at least annually, or sooner if required due to changes in legislation, organisational structure, or work activities. This policy is communicated to all employees and persons working on behalf of Brucom Distribution Ltd and is made available to interested parties upon request.
